What ignited your interest in the beauty industry?
I've been fascinated by fashion and beauty since I was a little girl, which naturally led me into this career. As I honed my skills, my path became clearer, and throughout my career, I've followed what feels right, going with the flow.
Can you share what inspired you to specialize in weddings?
I reached a point where I wanted to offer a more personalized service, which led me to the wedding industry. After my first year in weddings, I realized the significance of my role for each bride. It's not just about makeup and hairstyling. It's about forging a meaningful connection during such a pivotal moment, something they'll cherish forever.
How would you describe your signature aesthetic?
My signature aesthetic involves enhancing the natural beauty of each individual. I lean towards an elevated, natural style, but listening to my clients' wishes and bringing them to life is key.
What initially drew you to partner with Intraceuticals?
I noticed my clients needed more than hairstyling and makeup for their big day. Many were using numerous skincare products that confused and damaged their skin, leading to breakouts and dryness. I was first introduced to Intraceuticals by my good friend, Gina Brooke, about 13 years ago, and I was impressed after seeing the results following just one treatment. I decided to incorporate Intraceuticals into my services and initiate a results-based skincare routine for each client a year before their wedding to help restore their skin.
What's the most crucial advice you would offer brides concerning skincare and makeup as their wedding day approaches?
There isn't just one piece of advice I can offer! Ensure you have a makeup artist whose work you love and whom you can trust and connect with. Prioritize self-care by eating well, staying hydrated, and exercising regularly. Adhere to a dedicated skincare routine. I recommend using the Rejuvenate 3 Step Layering Set and Intraceuticals Oxygen Facials both leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day to my brides. Additionally, consider exploring facial yoga and gua sha techniques to tone and tighten facial muscles. All these contribute to healthier skin and help provide an excellent canvas for makeup.
How do you approach integrating skincare into the bridal makeup process, and how does it differ from regular makeup application?
Many clients have approached me with pre-existing skin concerns, and my first question revolves around their skincare routine. After assessing their routine, I determine the necessary steps for a regular skincare regimen. Even if your skin appears flawless, it's crucial to maintain proper hydration, as well-hydrated skin is essential for achieving flawless makeup. Bridal makeup differs from everyday makeup due to a significant factor: continuous photography! Ensuring your makeup looks perfect for the camera at all times might require a slightly heavier application than your daily routine. However, a professional makeup artist can employ techniques to make it appear natural in the photos.
When prepping the bride's skin, what are your favourite products to use and why?
Typically, I opt for the Rejuvenate Oxygen Facial, followed by the Rejuvenate 3 Step Layering Set for a long-lasting glow. This hydrating regimen creates a solid foundation for makeup application. I also apply the Retouch Highlight Serum on the high points of the face, both under and over the foundation, for a subtle iridescent touch that looks stunning on camera.
What's been your favorite destination to visit so far, and where would your dream wedding location be to work in?
I've travelled extensively for work, encountering beauty in every destination. Each place has its unique charm, making any location a dream to work in. However, I feel incredibly fortunate to call the South of France home. Its enchanting landscapes feature endless fields of wild florals and countless chateaus, making it a dream wedding destination.
